Syrah Resources Limited (ASX Code: SYR) is an Australian resource company formed through the acquisition of a portfolio of exploration projects from Copper Strike Limited. Syrah Resources listed on the Australian Stock Exchange on 11 September 2007.
The primary commodities of interest to Syrah are precious and base metals.
Syrah is now actively exploring its project areas in Queensland and South Australia. The Company is also pursuing the acquisition or joint venture of an advanced resource asset within Australia and overseas, following a strong objective of moving towards being a developer and operator of mining operations.
The Company’s exploration properties cover different exploration target types.
In the Mt Isa Block of NW Queensland, Syrah has three project areas: Levuka, Archie- Mackenzie and Norfolk. Levuka is along trend and immediately south of the Eloise Copper Mine. The Archie-Mackenzie tenements are located northeast of the Century Mine. To the southwest of Century, at Norfolk, Syrah holds tenement applications covering a very large circular feature, similar to a feature adjacent to Century.
At Lyndhurst, South Australia, the project area contains many historical workings located on occurrences of copper mineralisation. Drilling by Syrah in April 2008 returned encouraging, wide intercepts of oxide copper at the White Lead Prospect. These will be followed up by further drilling in late August 2008.
